I moved my blog from Smarterwealth.net to Ryanmclean.net 9 days ago, and one of the things I knew would happen is that I would lose a lot of search engine traffic. I was receiving about 1,000 visits from search engine traffic on my old blog. Not a lot, but a decent amount. 

Well today was a successful day because I got my first search engine hit! This means that I am in the search engines and over the next few days my search engine traffic will continue to increase.

If you ever decide to move your blog to a new domain then you will lose a lot of search engine traffic for a while, but eventually it will come back to you.

This was just a little update, because seeing that I got search engine traffic made me smile

I have been hearing a lot about Twitter on blogs in the last 6 months…but I have never done anything about it. At the moment I have around 100 twitter followers and I don’t even know how I got that many, but I did. But now I am determined to use twitter to my advantage. 

I know that twitter can bring a lot of traffic to your blog and it can also bring in a lot of revenue from sending people to affiliate sites your by selling your own products. Now that I have finished getting this new theme up and a running and I have been doing some list building stuff, I am now going to do some twitter building.

It is only around 2 years old and it is growing fast. Get in early and build up so in 4-5 years from now you can be raking in the cash.

As you might know I have recently released my first paid ebook Easy Ebook Income, which might I say I am quite proud of. By creating this ebook and making the sales page for the website myself, I have discovered that creating a killer sales page is a lot harder than it looks.

There is quite a steep learning curve when you are going from a regular article writer (like myself) to a copywriter (someone who writes sales pages). There is a lot to learn, but if you can learn how to effectively convert readers into paying customers then you can earn a whole heap of money.

Here are a few things that I have learnt about creating killer sales pages that I want to pass on to you

Make It About The Customer

My first sales copy of this webpage was pretty piss poor. I talked a lot about my experience and the fact that I have made money online. But you need to make it all about the customer and what your product will do for them, not how good you are.

Use Graphics

Pictures not only tell 1,000 words but they stand out. Pictures have the ability to make your sales page look professional and worthy of someone spending their money on. Pictures are also great to stir up emotion and to create authority on your sales page. Pictures can also be used to emphasize certain lines of text, so your audience reads exactly what you want them to read.

Use Videos

Some people don’t like reading much and a video testimonial can really make your product stand out and make people want to buy your product. Do everything you can to get video testimonials as well as written testimonials. This will help your sales page a lot.

Testimonials Need To Be In Boxes

I don’t know why exactly but testimonials work better in boxes. I had a testimonial up on my sales page that was just highlighted (not in a box) and people yelled at me to change it. So I did. I will slowly be adding more and more testimonials as I receive them.

Sales Aren’t That Easy

Making sales isn’t as easy as you think it would be. I have made just one sale from this product so far. I am not fussed about this because I want this product to be a long term earner for me, and it has already earned its weight in gold because I have learnt so much about writing sales copies. But I have learnt that sales don’t come as easily as you would imagine. Thousands of people DON’T bang down your doors to get your product, you really need to be clever about marketing your product well if you want to make sales.

Learn By Doing

The best way to learn how to write effective sales pages is to actually write them. Because I wrote this sales page myself I can now write sales pages 10 times better than ever before, and I know that I will only continue to improve. By doing you will learn so much and become extremely skilled. So don’t hire someone else to do it. Rather do it yourself.

I don’t know about you, but I am a big fan of FREE offers. I love getting something for nothing, and I love that all I have to do is enter my name and email address and I can get a free ebook or video. I don’t worry too much about giving people my deails either because I know I can easily subscribe if their emails start to annoy me or if they try to hard sell to me too often.

Why Do People Need Content and How Can You Cash In?

There are always webmasters who need new content for their websites, as profits are driven by content. This means that they will always be opportunities that you can cash in on. In fact the internet is continuing to grow, so the opportunities to earn money from freelance writing will continue to grow.

Freelance Writing Basics

Freelance writing is extremely basic in its early stages. As you get further into copywriting it gets a little more difficult (and that is where you can earn $10,000/month) but for beginners earning $20-$50 per hour is fairly simple. I just want to talk you through the basics of article writing and what clients are generally looking for.

The majority of clients will want short articles. These generally range from 200 words to 500 words and will cover a variety of topics. Do not be alarmed to write about topics that you are not an expert in. If you say no to writing an article because you do not feel you are an expert, then someone else who knows nothing about the subject is going to cash in on that opportunity. Clients do not expect you to be an expert in the topics you are writing about. So don’t be afraid to take whatever your clients throw at you. In the beginning you will want to get as much work as possible and you will be forced to do this. A 500 word article is quite easily achieved in 15 minutes. That is an easy $20 per hour at the lowest rate of $0.01 per word. I do not recommend offering writing services lower than this rate. Once you become more experienced and you have an array of clients then you can begin earning $40-$50 per hour instead of just $20 per hour. I like to take my time on articles and enjoy myself so I generally earn around $30-$35 per hour when I am freelance writing.
